Not Sure if My Pill is Working

I've been taking my BC for months, I missed 2 non-consecutive days last month but haven't missed any this month. I've had some dark spotting 6 times this month which cause me to think maybe my pill isn't working correctly so I took an ovulation test and it was positive for a surge early this afternoon. My bf and I rarely use a condom and had unprotected intercourse twice the day before the positive ovulation test and my period is due in about a week. I took a FR pregnancy test yesterday and it was negative (but was taken after 6pm... I'm totally impatient). Wondering if I should just wait until my period is due to retest or if I should stop taking the next few pills in my pack if I am pregnant? I guess I'm not sure what I should do. I called my dr. Friday but never heard back.
