My husband and I spoil each other and we buy each other things. However we don’t do “allowances” because we are working adults who can manage money without someone doing it for us. 
We really don’t see it as spoiling considering the fact that we can both spoil ourselves with our own money, buying our wants and needs. We just enjoy giving each other gifts throughout the year and major gifts on certain holidays. 
My husband bought me Tiffany & Co jewelry for Valentine’s Day as well as for hitting goals in my weight loss journey. I’ve bought him Versace watches as well as new golf drivers and clubs. 
But we also spoil each other in the fact that we have a child that we give so much love to. Our child gets everything he needs and wants and is raised in a loving and nurturing home. 
My husband spoils me with his love, his ability to listen, his attention and affection, and I return the same to him. Spoiling isn’t always materialistic in nature, it’s also comes in emotional forms and spiritual forms as well.
