13w2d Appointment update

Kaye • Baby Robert Todd was born Oct. 28th, 2019!

Today my husband and I had a busy day. We started out the afternoon getting another ultrasound. The ultrasound technician said the doctors usually don't order another ultrasound so soon. My last one was at 8w2d. However, my doctor ordered me this one due to finding a fibroid during my last one. The ultrasound technician said the fibroid shouldn't interfere at all with my baby. I'm so relieved. I also asked about gender. My ultrasound tech said it was too soon to tell. She did humor me and try to look. I agreed with her. It was too soon.

We then went to my first prenatal appointment. I loved the RN I had. She was so sweet and made the whole appointment nice. I have two full titanium rods in my back. We discussed what this will mean for me throughout my pregnancy. I can't recieve epidurals or spinal taps. Due to the rods she has referred me to a high risk specialist, but I might not be considered high risk. She is worried about the strain on my back. I also got to chose midwives or doctor care for my pregnancy. I selected doctors due to my medical issues.

We then went to complete my blood work. Which was luckily painless. I'm terrified of needles.

Overall, it was a pretty good day. Very positive. I scheduled an elective ultrasound at 16w2d. It was reccomend to me by the ultrasound technician today. So in 3 weeks I'll find out the gender. I'm excited.
