What are reasons for not believing in marriage?

I’ve seen a lot of post of women on here or there boyfriends not believing in marriage. 
I’ve knows a few committed couple who have been together for years and years who didn’t get married for financial reasons and I understand that. 
But what are people’s reasons for not believing in marriage? If you love someone and know you want to be with them your whole life then why not get married?

Marriage is a social construct. It’s literally a piece of paper to me. I’m going to get married anyways to get my family off my ass because “5 years is long enough to date.” And I can’t stand the bitching. Our relationship can only be valid to family and the law if we sign a piece of paper. It will make no difference to me. I am just as much committed to this man with or without a legal document. The only pros I can really see coming from marriage is that if he ever gets hurt and is in the hospital I will be able to know what’s going on and will be able to help make medical decisions on his behalf if he cannot make them for himself. Right now they would kick me out and I’d have to go through his family.

it’s an archaic and oppressive tradition. it literally began as fathers selling their daughters to another man to be used for sex in exchange for money or goods. so, there’s that...
today it might get you a tax break, but otherwise it’s just a piece of meaningless paper. 
couples can be committed without it

😂🤣😂🤣 I’ve been seeing this topic on here the whole week.
People have many reasons why they don’t believe in marriage:
1. Some see it as a piece of paper 
2. Others have bfs who tell them “we dont need to get married, you know our love is forever” 
  - these are usually dudes that want to build a life with you and once they decide to leave you, leave you empty handed. As people who don’t get married have no rights to each other’s property even though they built it together. (Sucks)
  - my brother is currently planning to convince his gf of this as he plans to buy a house and doesn’t want her to have any part of it 😂🤣🤣🤣 he’s terrible. 
3. To others it signifies commitment there for refer to #2 
Both Coming from divorced parents my husband and I didn’t want to get married. But we have property, and we were planning to have kids. We love  each other, we also wanted to set a good example of what a good marriage should be like for our kids so we did it.

Clearly people have their own views on the concept of marriage.  My husband and I were together 12 years since the age of 17 before we got married.  It was for no one else’s gratification but our own.  I mean our own parents weren’t thrilled at the idea and thought it was unnecessary.  But I loved him and he loved me and we were set on getting married for the simple fact that I wanted to be his wife and he wanted to be my husband.  I mean the commitment was there already given our track record and not to mention we were both tattooed at a young age with each others names.   But something about getting married felt right.  It felt important and like a right of passage. 
Yes, it may be consider a simple piece of paper, but I can tell you that I was thrilled to get that piece of paper in the mail and to change my last name to his.  It was like those years of commitment were being cashed in. 
For those so cynical about the traditional concept of marriage have simply never been married or have never been in a good one. Lol harsh but true.

We chose to get married because we're committed to each other and it just felt like the final step to show each other how real and how true our love is. Also it means if anything happens to either one of us then our futures are secure
To us it's not just a piece of paper like it is to my BIL, who married for convenience of his Chinese wife and son to be able to get their green cards for uk so he could be with his son (otherwise they'd both still be in China)
I do understand that there are many reasons for people to not get married though.

Alot of people don't see the point, like it's just a piece of paper. Which if that works for them I don't see an issue
