He told someone during a phone interview yesterday and I got really worried. He lost his job a week after we found out we were expecting. This has been a stressful pregnancy due to that and now I’m wondering if this is why he isn’t getting anywhere in the job process. 💔😫

Honestly he should just mention it after he gets a job. They only need to know for insurance purposes if he gets benefits from the job, and there's nothing they can do about it. Most jobs don't really care if the person's spouse is pregnant as it won't really be affecting their job.

Most HR don’t want to know that info because it isn’t allowed to be a deciding factor and if for some reason he could prove that’s why he wasn’t offered the job they can get in trouble. It’s something I would mention during on boarding or training but depending on the job you being pregnant shouldn’t affect his job.

Depends on how many weeks you have till your due date, how much time you want him to be around for after birth, and how long the hiring process for the particular jobs typically are. My husband was in between jobs shortly after we conceived, and he interviewed for a job when I was about 14 weeks, and didn't start for another 4-5. We decided not to mention it as long as he was offered and started the the job at least 12 weeks before the due date because that just seemed like good etiquette and enough time for him to put in a fair amount of work before birth. There's no clear guideline, but personally I'd say it's not fair to expect to work say 4 weeks and then to immediately after take 4 weeks off for instance, and would require being forthcoming during the hiring process (before being offered the job). After a certain point it'd make more sense to consider waiting until birth though it can be rough financially.

If hes just now interviewing, hes not going to have much if any time off he can take in 2 months especially since his start date wont be for at least a month. If he wants any time off for the baby he should being it up in the interview. My husband also got laid off and told his boss in the interview and shes super accommodating of my appointments and him taking time off when she gets here. You're too far along for him not to being it up IMO. Its be different if you were earlier along. I'd rather know hes working someplace that will be supportive and not have his boss hate him in 2 months.
