Weird spotting and period?

So last month my period was 37 days which was 8 days late compared to my previous cycle and right before I got my actual period I had this very light pink/brownish type spotting the day before my period. Now this month I’m on day 36 and I started spotting the same thing starting yesterday but today I’m still spotting instead of getting my period? Any idea on why this is happening?
