Do these prenatal tests sound normal?

Had an appt with my midwife today and she told me that at my next appt I'll be having lab work done which will include a typical CBC (complete blood count screening), HIV test, chicken pox immunity test, rubella immunity test.
I can't help but think the additional tests sound unnecessary... 
I've had chicken pox before so I don't need that test, my husband and i have been together and monogamous for 6 years and I'm 99% sure i dont have HIV, and i had an mmr vaccine 8 years ago...
Do i sound stupid if i deny the extra tests? Also kinda worried my insurance won't cover them

No that doesn’t sound stupid but that sounds like the blood work they give everyone. Part of my blood work they tested for chlamydia. I know I don’t have that and the dr even told my husband they don’t think I have it it’s just part of the test. I saw a post on here recently about someone saying they tested negative for rubella antibodies even though they had the vaccine. They just had it so long ago they were no longer immune. I don’t know if that’s possible but go ahead and ask your midwife about the tests you don’t want to do and see the reason behind why they want to do it. If you’re not convinced deny it, but maybe they’ll have some good points that will sway your decision. You’re right to question anything!

Insurance covers them. They are important to your results as silly as it sounds. The CBC can look for anemia. Rubella test tells your immunity against it, and HIV can be in your system dormant for years. So these tests are very imprtant.

Most insurance do cover it. I was tested for those things. In fact I’m Texas they test you for HIV 3 times! In the beginning of pregnancy, during your glucose testing, and after you have the baby. I thought THAT was obsessive and ridiculous.

All very standard and they’re for the safety of your baby. The only test I had trouble getting covered was for CF, but the office fought for me and insurance ended up covering it.

Those are the normal screening tests in early pregnancy. Your insurance should cover them.

They are actually all good tests to have run.  I’m not saying it’ll happen to you, it probably won’t, but a few women on here have been shocked to find that they have an std because they never thought their partner would ever cheat.
also, just because you’ve had something or been vaccinated doesn’t mean you’ve retained immunity so they want to check to know how cautious you need to be.

So I just had my second baby and asked a ton of questions about the bloodwork being drawn again. HIV I was negative 2 years ago with my husband why again? These are all considered routine and you’ll also get an hiv test in your third trimester. Usually if it’s your first you will get a CBC, rubella, fragile x, cystic fibrosis, hiv, blood typing to find out rh factor, hepatitis including a urine culture. Some offices will also do an sti screen. 
With my second baby, my doctor didn’t make me do the cystic fibrosis or fragile x. Even though they had my blood type on file , they were still required to type it. All was covered under insurance 100%
