What kind of ultrasound did you have first?

I went in today for an U/S and they did an abdominal one. I’m about 7-8 weeks along. 
They saw a sac but nothing inside. 
My levels are at 7,100.
Of course I’m scared about blighted ovum, but I’m hearing too that it might be way too early to see anything on an abdominal scan. 
So I’m having a transvaginal one on Friday. 
Has this happened to anyone? I’m so scared.

Yes yes yes. Transvaginal ultrasounds are much more efficient for pregnancy that early. I had 3 or 4 transvaginal ultrasounds in the beginning (I had an ectopic pregnancy in Dec 2017) and once I hit the 12 week mark they started doing abdominal. Just stay relaxed as best as you can, it’s a little uncomfortable but it doesn’t last forever.

I’ve never had a transvag and find them absolutely abhorrid when I think about it. These are not routine anywhere else but the US. They are only used when necessary to assess risks elsewhere in the world. I’m having my fourth and haven’t had one in pregnancy ever. I had ONE during fertility assessment 8yrs ago. I’m in Canada.

This happened to me. They did abdominal and saw the sac and pole but no baby. Turns out I was earlier than they thought. Came back a week later and BAM, there was a baby lol

I'm 26 weeks with my 4th child and I have never had a transvaginal ultrasound. It's always been abdominal and my doctor won't even do an ultrasound until 8 weeks.

They never even tried abdominal until I was 12 weeks because the tech said you can barely see anything before then if you do abdominal

Yes I had an early abdominal scan and they couldn't see much so we did the transvaginal and could see more. Totally normal, try not to stress
