Was my DR wrong??

Question

I went for my 6 week checkup and to finally get started on BC. I decided to get on the Patch. My dr told me that as soon as I get it to put it on, but why does the packet instructions say to do it 7 days after I get my period? I put it on on Wednesday and am completely afraid of it not working because my dr gave me wrong information. Help????

My doctor told me the same thing! She just told me to start on a Sunday. 
I was on the Nexplanon before I got on the patch recently and I had it taken out and got on the patch. But I never had a periodwith the implant. So I was thinking the same thing. But after my first month on patches and I went on the patch free week I got my period on Wednesday.

Most BC says to start when you end your period so you know you’re not pregnant. If your OB said start immediately, you can start.

As with most birth control, you should use alternative forms of prevention for the first week anyway

You can start the patch at any time, like the pill. It will work just fine. Just make sure you use backup protection for the first week.
