is it a bad idea to get a kitty?

I have been so bored lately here cooped up in my apartment... I’m almost 35 weeks but have been debating on getting a kitty to keep me occupied. But do y’all think it’s a bad idea considering how close I am to having a new born ?

I’d wait until you’re settled with baby, you’re not allowed to clean cat litter or smell the fumes anyway- and it’s gunna be hard having the kitty adjust to a new baby, while it’s still adjusting to it’s new home.

I have four cats and I love them. Husband has always taken care of litter. I found a kitten in my backyard about a month before I was due with my first and it’s been great watching them grow up together. They’re very low maintenance animals and pretty much sleep all day.

Don’t do it! Kitty Litter boxes are so toxic to baby’s and young kids. Plus the potential that your baby might have an allergy to cats. I would definitely wait.

I think it would be fine. I have a cat and dog. Cats are independent pets & they’re easier to take care of. I’d go for it.

I would!!!!!! Everyone is saying wait until after the baby since you can’t change the litter buuuuuut... that’s what husbands are for!!!! And you’re already 35 weeks so that’s not that many litter changes. Go for it!! I don’t know what I would do without my two fluffy children

As long as you have someone to do the litter box for you, I say DO IT. Cats are gifts to the soul ❤️ here’s me with mine:)

I have 3 of them. And I always clean the kitty litter ( please dont do this yourself). I've always done it and have 3 kids.. my kids sometimes do it. If I do it I use gloves and use a mask and always wash my hands 2 times after. I also use kitty pallets and not the sand. I also shower my cats every 3 to 4 days.

I have three cats, one is 3 years old and two (brothers) are 1 year. I’m not at all worried about the three year old because he’s extremely mellow and well behaved, but the two younger ones are still pretty mischievous and needy for our attention. I love them with all my heart and would never give them up but it’s still going to be a challenge when baby gets here.

It’s a terrible idea right now. First of all you aren’t supposed to touch litter and handle cat feces. Secondly, the cat will establish dominance and can be a complete ass to the baby once he/she arrives.
