The pill and me

So, i few weeks ago i made the decision to start the pill, i got it from my Gyn, and i took the first one, but i got really scared of the side symptons, and i stopped on the second day. Three days later i bled, as if it was my period, but it wasnt cause i had just finished my period when i took that first pill. Now, weeks after, my period is late, like really late and i'm really scared, i haven't had the chance to take a pregnancy test yet, but i just needed fo talk about this.
