Homemade cloth pads?

For some reason I couldn't find my cup. I had zero paper products and bo money this week until payday. I just took one of my well cleaned, all cotton, wash cloth and folded it in thirds to use. It's working pretty well and I brought another washcloth to work with a wet bag in my purse.

I know its basically similar to how women have been treating their periods forever I still cant get past the stigma of it. I happen to have 3 cloths I've been washing 2 and hanging dry overnight and using another at night. With these warm nights the cloth has dried completely by the morning.

Is this gross? I'll plan on using these 3 cloths only for this purpose from here out.
