Abortion Pill (Disturbing-Long)
Hello all, I’m posting about a VERY disturbing incident involving the abortion pill so please do not read if this will be a trigger. I’m posting as I would like to see if anyone else has had this happened to them.
I did not have an abortion but my sister did. Her and I live together. She currently has 2 kids and I’m 5 months pregnant. We are really close and I supported her in which ever decision she chose. She chose to have an abortion - and chose the route of an abortion pill.
My sister has the nexplanon bc in her arm. Yes, she became pregnant with this bc - no it was not expired, and no it was not a recent bc start - she’s had it for a year.
She began to throw up yellow vomit and couldn’t eat like she used too. I told her to take a test as she didn’t want too because she was on bc. She finally did after a few days and it came back positive. She was unsure of what she wanted to do. I let her know whatever her choice was I would be there to support her. The next day she told me she was going to have an abortion and proceeded to tell me she already made an appointment. On Saturday of last week she started bleeding heavily and passing clots. So she called and scheduled an appointment with her OBGYN last Monday. Her OB said she was not miscarrying and it was probably happening because she has a really bad UTI and maybe the nexplanon had something to do with it. My sister explained to her OB that she was going to have an abortion that Thursday. The OB stated that she would not have her do an ultrasound and gave her antibiotics.
Thursday rolls around and I take off work to watch her two children and drive us all to another city - where the closest planned parenthood was in our state. As we are pulling up there were protesters. I felt immediately sick as they were screaming and yelling. My sister is becoming nervous and started crying saying that she can’t stand these people yelling. I assured her that if she didn’t want to proceed it would be fine we can go home but if she did that I’m here for her and to ignore them. I got my car very close to the door and my sister said thanks but I’m doing it and runs to the building as people are shouting at her. I was nearly in tears because I just don’t think it’s right or fair for people to project their opinions/lifestyles on anyone else. I understand people have the freedom of speech but everyone has their reasoning on doing things - even if we don’t agree. I googled a child play place and found one five minutes away and stayed there the whole time with the kids. They played ate and played their little heart out as my sister and I were texting making sure everything was okay. They told her she was 9w pregnant. Finally she was ready to be picked up and we drove back to home.
They gave her a med there and gave her more meds to do at home. I went to work on Friday and she did too and took the kids to school and daycare. She texted me stating that she wanted to eat before she began the second process. I came home with pizzas we all ate. I believe she put four meds in her gum teeth area at about 6pm. Then after 30 minutes she washed them down. We were all talking in the living room kids playing for a little bit until about 7:45pm I told the kids to sleep with me in my room tonight and they happily agreed. The kids and I passed out no later than 8:30pm.
At 1:45am I wake up because I hear a loud bang. I look at my phone and my sister texted me at 10:21pm saying the cramping and bleeding started. As I’m quietly trying to get out of bed without waking up my niece and nephew I hear another loud bang so I start rushing to see what’s happening. My sister was on the ground with no pants on with her arms shaking. It looked like a murder scene. At this time it didn’t register that my sister was having a seizure. She stopped seizing within seconds of me entering the bathroom. I help her up. Her face is completely white. I try to have a conversation with her nothing but mumbling. I sat her up on the toilet and told her I would be right back as I begin to let her go her head begins to sway so I start moving objects away from her head to avoid injury. And at this point I realize she is having a seizure. Her eyes are stuck looking straight up and she begins to fall forward so I catch her and sit on the tub holding her up. Her entire body is shaking uncontrollably. She stops. It happens again after a few seconds of stopping. It stopped. Seconds later she starts having another seizure. She had 3 seizures back to back while I was present. After that she began mumbling again. I put her arms against her legs knee area and leave her facing forward for a few seconds as I ran to get my phone from my room. I call 911 at 1:58am. They take my sister on the ambulance.
I rush cleaning the bathroom, hallway, and her bedroom - changing sheets before I got them up to go to the hospital. I was concerned for my sister and we only have each other so I had no choice but to wake them up and bring them with me. They run to her bedroom and bathroom and I explained to them again that she had to go to the doctor so we were gonna go make sure everything was okay. They did not cry or get upset. They helped me get them dressed and we got their car seats from my sisters car and drove off. (I really was impressed as my nephew is 5 and my niece is 3) her blood pressure was extremely low. They did cat scans, EKG’s, and other tests and everything came back normal thankfully. They kept her until she became stable. They only said she had adverse effects to the abortion pill and if she bled through more than a pad that she needed to come back.
Has this happened to anyone else? My sister is extremely healthy with no major medical concerns in the past - no history of seizures.
I’m not saying that anyone did anything wrong but I do want to bring awareness to my sisters situation. It was frightening to say the least. My sister stated that she didn’t remember the bathroom situation at all and only realized she was in an ambulance when they hit a hard bump and then lost consciousness again. I was in complete shock and very shaky. My sister has had a surgical abortion four years ago and she did not experience this at all.
