Madonna’s Eurovision Political Statement

Last night was the Eurovision Song Contest, a contest that aims to be politically neutral and free of political statements. If you keep up on Eurovision then you know that’s not the case (aka border counties giving 12 points to each other). This year there has been some controversies and calls for boycotts as the competition has been held in Israel. Last night when Madonna performed at the end of her performance two of the dancers linked arms and had their backs facing the crowd with a flag of Israel and Palestine on them. The organisers announced they were unaware of the plans for this and it was never in he rehearsals

There’s been a bit of an uproar over this statement and she was booed for it. She’s received a lot of backlash over it online

However, when the results were being announced Iceland held up a Palestine banner. I haven’t seen any backlash for this
