Period or implantation?

Suppose to start my period on the 23rd of this month, but am having some light spotting but also on wipe with red red blood. is this just my period starting early? or possible implantation

Could be either. Everything I’ve read about implantation says it’s not red. 
Well, I had implantation bleeding this pregnancy. It was lighter period type flow, red, multiple clots or pieces of tissue, and it lasted 2 days. And strong period type cramps. 
I thought it was my period showing up early, even used a tampon. I wish i would have taken a picture to prove it can be red and more than spotting, but i sincerely thought it was my period. 
That was at 7 dpo, got a positive pregnancy test at 11 dpo

Answer

Implantation is typically not red but instead pink or brown. Sounds like AF.
