Transfer time! What to expect?

Question

I got the green light from the doctor for the frozen embryo transfer on June 5th. Unfortunately my hubby will be out of town that week. Can you drive or work on the big day? Would it be weird to Uber/lyft? I don’t really want to ask a friend or family because I feel like it’ll jinx me. They know I’m doing 
IVF
 but don’t want them to know when I’m transferring, I realize that might sound strange.

I’m confused by some of these responses. I went to my transfer by myself and went back to business as Usual after. My doctor said it was fine to return to work immediately after but I took the day off. She advised against bedrest as it is important to keep your blood flowing. It’s basically the same as getting an iui.

I was told to have someone drive you because of the meds. I dont remember the drive home lol. That day I stayed home but took it easy. Good luck!!

My doctor specifically requires you to have a driver and modified bed rest for the day of and day after.

I had my husband w me but I feel like I could have driven myself bc i did not do the Valium. If you’re used to string period cramps than the transfer will be a breeze. The SIS test hurt way more than the transfer. I was totally fine to be able to drive home if needed

I’d call your nurse and ask. My paperwork for transfer specifically states I need someone to drive me to and from because I’ll be meds to relax me (muscle relaxers and Valium.)

My husband had to go to work after so we drove separate, parked at a shop rite parking lot close to the highway (we live in the middle of no where, about 20 mins to nearest highway) and he jumped in my car. I was totally fine driving on my own just had to pee sooooo bad that i had to stop on my way home because I never would have made it.

Better to get someone to drive you there.  I’ve had a few transfers and all went well but the only one I drove to myself because I had no other choice....I had intense cramping on the way home and I could barely drive.  Be safe and good luck

My friend told me when she was transferring but specifically said she wasn’t going to tell anyone for six weeks if it worked or not. That way, she got support for the big day but also space to process the good or bad news. I would reach out to someone for moral support, even if you can drive yourself.
