Someone please help me!

My 20 month old:

- can only say mum, Dad & Yum. He associates yum with food, but doesn’t associate me with mum or his father with dad. He used to say these words a lot, but now hardly says them. He also used to say nan, but doesn’t say it anymore.

- doesn’t communicate in other ways (I.e. pointing, dragging us to what he wants, etc.) he just screams and throws a tantrum around the house.

He’s been to a Paediatrician, who referred us to speech pathology (months, if not a year, waiting list. We’ve had his hearing checked - left is good enough for normal speech development; right, inconclusive - so have to go back in 4 months).

Two of the only doctors who have helped me are on leave for months!

Early intervention, I have to be referred to.

I am at my wits end. I can’t do this anymore, and no-one seems to give a shit.

Has anyone had this? How did you get them to speak/understand? 😭

P.S. Tried sign (didn’t understand).

Tried saying “ta” when he wanted food, but screamed when I wouldn’t give him food when he didn’t repeat ta.
