Nail is breaking off?

So today I was at a pool party and was in the water for about 2 hours. After I got out for a while, I looked down and saw my nail was broken in the middle. I don’t want to rip the broken part off, because it’s a really thick piece and I don’t think there is anything under it. It doesn’t hurt. I’ve kept a bandaid on it because I’m scared of it falling off. Does anyone know what to do?

By the way, there is some light pink nail polish on, just ignore that
