Anti anxiety pills???

Question

Is there any ladies out there who had severe anxiety that they were on medication for before you got pregnant? If so did you continue with them? Did you cut back? Or stop all together? I'm getting so much different information.  I'd like to hear from someone who's actually gone threw this. Its so hard.

I am currently on xanax and clonazepam and have been for 10 years. Both my MFM (high risk OB) and my psychiatrist ok'd and recommended me NOT stopping my meds as my mental health was just important as my physical. My psychiatrist said in all his years treating patients hes never witnessed any of his pregnant patients have any issues with these medications and that the horror "studies" you read online are misinforming. I am now 33 weeks and every u/s I've been too baby is growing great, on schedule with my due date, no birth defects. She's very active and OB says everything looks great. 
OB just said to take the lowest dose possible to where I still feel comfortable and am able to cope. My psychiatrist said my doses are low, especially compared to most of his other patients. They don't seem concerned and have actually reassured me that I am fine continuing my medications. 
So it just comes down to you and your doctors and what you personally feel comfortable with. I have been on Zoloft too and it has worked amazingly for anxiety. So if you want to give that a try instead I say go for it! But don't stop your other medication suddenly. You need to be weaned if you were taking it daily. Hope this helps! 🤗

I’m on Zoloft (100mg daily), and have been since my oldest was around three months. My doctor prescribed it because it was safe for breastfeeding, and also for pregnancy. 
I’m now almost 35 weeks pregnant with my second, and I’ve had two primary doctors, as well as my OB, encourage me to keep taking it. They don’t even want me to try to wean or lower my dose. Happy mom, happy baby.

I would ask your OB. A lady I know took xanax the whole time she was pregnant and the baby died from having holes in his brain. Not sure if it was related to the xanax as I am not a doctor but barbituates are not safe during pregnancy that much I know.

I currently take Lexapro and Trazadone. Before TTC, I was on Abilify. I had to slowly taper off. It took about a month.

I stopped my Zoloft before we started trying to conceive. I was fine until week 15 in my pregnancy. Now, I have some issues but I'm scheduling some follow ups with my therapist. Talk therapy has been extremely effective for me. I was lucky and really just needed the medication as a lever to get myself back on track being me.

What medication are you on.  Most daily preventative meds like Zoloft are safe in pregnancy.  But the as needed meds for panic attacks, like Xanax and Ativan, are not recommended in pregnancy.
