Bringing 1 year old to first appointment?

I have my first OB appointment on Friday and it looks like I’m going to have to bring my son who just turned one. My husband can’t get off work and my mom and mil can’t watch him. Has anyone brought little ones with them to their appointments? He’s usually pretty good out in public and I’m planning on keeping him in the stroller with some snacks when the doctor come in. I’m just worried the doctor will be annoyed, and that I’ll be stressed 😕

I’ve seen others bring toddlers to my ob/gyn office. It seems like something they should be used to.

I am in the same situation!! Will be bringing my 16 month old. I am sure there are lots of people who have to do it though. They are in the business of bringing babies into the world, so should be used to a few toddlers too!!

I actually asked this when I scheduled my appointment and the lady politely said it’s 45mins long and they can’t keep an eye on a 1yr old for that long. The shorter appointments the nurses can help but for the first one it wasn’t the best idea.

My hubby was military and never home and family was 1,000 miles away when I was pregnant with our 2nd. I had to take my 7 mo old to almost every appt. there are some things that are unavoidable. Do what you have to do and don’t let anyone make you feel guilty!

I was told not to bring young children to the first visit. Only time they say not to. Just because its the longest of all appointments. Usually 45min to a hour long.

I bring all three of mine to my appointments because my husband is military. I just warn the nurse before hand. My doctor came in and my oldest son introduced himself and his siblings and held his hand out to shake my doctors hand while saying nice to meet you. Doc was shocked lol. My son is 5.

I’ve taken my five year old daughter to two of my appointments so far. I just open up a kid friendly game on my phone and she’s happy as can be. I’d say as long as he’s entertained he will be just fine.
