I took a test just before my period and it was negative

My period is now 4 days late but I can sometimes have irregular periods, is there anyway the test could have been wrong because I took it early?

I had some light pinkish thick (tmi sorry) discharge a few days ago x

If I take another test now will it show up with an accurate result?

Any help is appreciated as I’m kind of freaking out 😂 thanks x
