Is penetrative sex important in a relationship?

Is penetrative sex important in a relationship? Obviously there might be medical reasons why some people can't do penetration or some might be asexual but I'm thinking about in general and for the majority of people. Compared to other types of sex why is penis in vagina sex considered important?

For me sex is very important to me and for my husband as well. Why you ask, is because we both love sex and have a high sex drive most of the time. Plus it makes us feel closer and more connected.

It depends on the relationship. Some people are okay with non penetrative and others need it and either is fine. Every relationship is different but you must disclose to your partner what you are looking for and what you need to be satisfied. If you both want different things, move on and find someone on the same page as you.

My boyfriend thinks it is. I don't. He thinks it's a Meaningful relationship with sex. Personally I could quite happily live without it, and his comment worries me at times.
