About to have an early c section and freaking out! (Update)
I’m 36 weeks and 4 days with a history of preeclampsia. I noticed a decrease in movement today so I called the doctor and they sent me to L&D. The baby isn’t in any distress but her fluids have gotten too low and they aren’t seeing the heart rhythms they expect. Also my blood pressure is high even after a couple doses of meds. So my doctor decided we need to deliver in the next couple of hours. She’s still breech so it’ll be by c section.
I’m completely unprepared!! I worked a full day at work and was not expecting to have a baby right now. I’m a project manager and I didn’t do ANY turnover of my major projects. My husband was at home with our 4 year old so now he’s rushing to get here so they can start an epidural and get me to the OR. I’m trying to calm my nerves but I’m so anxious and worried that her little lungs won’t be ready. Hoping for a good outcome!
UPDATE: Thank you for the kind comments and support ladies! Everything went as smooth as could be and our baby girl is here and in great health. She was 6 lbs and 7 oz. She has a slightly irregular heartbeat but the pediatrician says it’s very common at this gestational age and not a cause for concern at this point. She’s also nursing wonderfully.
The c section was very intense because of all the people, lights and noise but it was a lot easier than I thought it would be. I felt tugging and a little pressure but nothing overwhelming. I did get a little nauseous on the table but the anesthesiologist was right by my side to push meds to immediately ease that. It was not at all the birth I wanted (I’d hired a doula for a med-free vaginally birth) but it was a great overall experience.
