Does anyone plan on taking or has taken a child birth/Lamaze class???

I’m 17 wk 3 days, just starting to think ahead...i thought it would be beneficial especially for my husband to do a class so he better knows what to expect and what to do to help me through labor. We are first time parents, and i would really like to do all that i can to do no drugs for labor BUT i also work as a nurse so I know very well that things happen and don’t go as planned which i am 100% open to. Does anyone have any recommendations if you’ve taken these classes or are currently taking them?

My husband and I took a newborn class at the hospital. It was pretty informative and I learned a lot that I didn’t read in books. They discussed different birth techniques, different pain control options/techniques, showed video of a vaginal and cesarean birth, gave lessons on swaddling/diaper changing, etc. They also did a hospital tour. Definitely a good resource.

My partner and I took an all in one Saturday labor and delivery class. I’m glad we did. We learned what to generally expect in each stage of labor and retained quite a bit of the information when I went into labor. When my contractions started I went back to sleep for 7hrs. When I woke up I labored at at home for as long as possible/ in the bath, swaying with my partner, massages and bouncing on my yoga ball. Went to the hospital when my contractions were 3 min apart at noon- had my daughter at 3pm. I had an uncomplicated, unmedicated 14 hr labor. 💕
