FEP and Common Law?

My SO had a federal job, so he has BCBS FEP insurance. In our state, we are considered common law married. I am trying to figure out if he will have any issues adding me to his insurance plan. Does anyone have experience with this?

In my state we have common law marriage too. We had to get a form filled out and notarized agreeing to this in order to get him added to my insurance.

From what I hear all the states are different so you need to check your specific laws...
Canada is the same cross country, common law is equivalent to marriage throughout.

Fiancée has the same insurance and is a government worker. Unfortunately, our state doesn’t recognize common law or domestic relations so we have to have separate insurance plans.
