Abortion death...?

Is it possible that you can die while/from getting an abortion? Can something go wrong? Me and my friends were debating/discussing this bc one of them is on the fence about getting one bc of this fear or possibility..

There is a possibility of death from an abortion but that being said you can die walking down the street. There is a possibility of death in everything you do.

Pretty positive the rate of abortion related deaths is much lower than the rate of deaths from childbirth. Just saying.

Thats something she should discuss with the doctor when talking about her options. I feel like its highly unlikely but Im not citing any credible sources. There are more invasive procdeures done by surgeons on a daily basis where people dont die like organ transplants- i feel like that has a higher rate of death.

Honestly childbirth and complications from it are way more dangerous than an abortion.  Medication abortion they make you come back the following day to ensure it's all gone and surgical.....well, whoever performs it is there to make sure they get everything out and that you don't have problems (including waking up from anaesthesia). If you have an unsafe abortion (like old school coathanger, using herbs or random medications to try and do it) THEN I would worry about dying from the procedure. I hear far more about women dying in childbirth, and I had a distant cousin who actually did die giving birth. So many things can go wrong so quickly. I would be more afraid of developing pre-eclampsia or the placenta ripping or just not detaching or bleeding out.....*shudder*.

Yes there are risks of infections and uterine perforation (poking a hike in the uterus) and scarring causing infertility. Those are all low risks. But that being said you can also have similar complications during childbirth.

I believe abortions have the lowest mortality rate of really any procedure. I may be wrong tho. I know it’s at least really low.

You’re more likely to die getting a colonoscopy than an abortion. And you’re DEFINITELY more likely to die giving birth and getting an abortion.
