Nuvaring storage HELP

Hi guys a couple months ago I got 2 packages of nuvarings (so 6 months worth) and have kept them in my fridge the entire time... however my friend told me the other day that after your health care provider gives them to you they expire after 4 months. Is that only if you keep them at room temp or for all nuvarings after they have been dispersed?

I am going to call the office tomorrow and ask if they are effective since they have been refrigerated the entire time but would really appreciate any insight if you guys have it!
