Gender reveal party?!

Did any of you have one?! How did your family feel about it and what kinds of things did you do?! I really want to plan a small gender reveal party for the weekend after we find out (which is in a week and a half) but I know his parents and mine don't "get" the whole gender reveal party idea. I keep telling them it's not a shower it's just a fun little party where we end up telling you what we're having. I still don't think they get it or feel it's necessary. But I want to have it!
