Best place to put thermometer?

Hi friends, im totally new in bbt charting. I just want to ask where should i put my thermometer? As my bed and side table is directly infront of an airconditioner, and it is open from night til morning when we get out of bed. 
I was wondering the aircon is affecting the temperature im getting.

I always kept mine in my pillow case since I dont have a bedside table.

I velcro mine to the head board! If its sitting in front of your AC unit, it's best to hold it in your hand (not turned on) for a min to take 'the edge off' as some thermometers have a timer for temping and a true temp may not be achieved if the thermometer is frigid. (Like, some have a 30 second read time for example and whatever temp the gauge is at after 30 seconds is the final reading. So if it takes longer to read a temp, it's best to warm up the thermo before inserting it) I test vaginally for more accuracy
