Sudden bath issues
My son will be 3 towards the end of July and all of the sudden he screams and seems terrified during his baths. He has always been a little uncomfortable with bath time (he didn’t like being cold in his infant bath when he was a baby so we had to add a towel for under him for warmth and as he got older he started really hating having water on his face so we always keep a dry cloth close by to wipe his face) but over the last week or so every time I grab a wash cloth and start to fill the tub he runs into our room and cries as if he’s scared. He doesn’t fight me when I pick him up and get him undressed and put him in the tub but he screams and cries the whole time. I have tried different temperatures in case his preference changed, tried adding bubble bath (helped a little bit but not much), tried adding small pool/bath toys, tried using less water and more water but nothing seems to work. He does tend to freak out more when the water is running but he still screams and cries throughout the entire bath. He hasn’t had anything traumatic happen to him during his baths to cause him to be scared. We were in a car accident a couple weeks ago but I don’t know how that could be connected. I have no clue what to do to help him and I feel so bad that he gets so upset. I always talk in a soft and soothing voice during the baths and let him know what I’m doing so nothing is a surprise. If anyone has any advice or input I am all ears! I don’t want my baby boy so stressed out and scared anymore!
Thank you!!
