If TLDR, just share your thoughts on Ellen's revelation that her stepfather touched her breasts with the reason of examining them for lumps following her mother's breast cancer diagnosis.

I'm glad Ellen is speaking up in detail. I believe her. I believe these experiences traumatized her. People can reveal abuse history whenever they are ready- whether the perpetrator is alive or not. I'm glad her mother has since apologized for how she handled Ellen's claims at the time.

The biological daughter of the accused has made a statement calling Ellen pathetic and accusing her of using the story for publicity.

However- I can't help but wonder if this man was sincerely concerned about Ellen possibly developing breast lumps leading to cancer? Is it just so ingrained in us to think people are caring and decent that it's difficult for me to comprehend that this man would get some dysfunctional pleasure from such behavior?

Part of it may be because of my own experience - perhaps I have an attitude of, that's all that happened? it's not that bad. Which I recognize is awful, but I'm being honest and vulnerable here, so please don't attack me.

My reaction/feelings on it don't really matter, I know that. I'm asking if anyone else ever has these thoughts and how we can change these societal attitudes.
