Tongue tied baby not getting enough milk despite a proper flow

Just want to share this with you guys in because it's something I didn't know about and it was driving me insane. My baby boy is a week old now and for the week since he was born he was cluster feeding like crazy but it wasn't like what people described. Cluster feeding would be normal length feedings with a short amount of time between them but baby Rowan was feeding so frequently that he would go for an entire hour and then want more in another hour or so. I wasn't able to sleep or really do anything because he was only sleeping for hour intervals day or night and possibly less than that. Dispite everything I knew it wasn't a supply issue because before and after feeding I would leak so much I'd go through an entire 24 pack of breast pads in a day. It haddnt been a latch issue either because his latch was all but textbook. The only indication that something wasn't right was that my nipple would still come out chisel shaped and that I would continue to leak after a long feeding. I gave in and made an appointment with my lactation consultant and found out that my baby has a genetic issue called a tounge tie. My husband and mother in law also have this issue but they had never been breast fed which is why we haddnt known it would be an issue. Tounge tie is when the piece of flesh under the tounge doesn't recede while in the womb and restricts the movement of the tounge. Because of this the baby cannot get a proper latch because the tounge won't reach the top of the mouth so the baby makes up for it by using the bottom gums to bite down instead. This also means that the baby won't receive enough milk no matter how well his latch is. There's a procedure to help fix this that can be down earlier or later in life and feels like a mild burn on the tounge when it's healing
