Death anniversary, what to do?

My husbands child passed away 5 years ago. We talk of them often, and our kids know about them. But I’m always on the fence what to do on anniversary days...
Should we do anything special? Should we not talk about the bad day? 
What would you do? Normally he’s working so I always make sure to text him I’m thinking of him and love him, but this year it’s on the weekend, so we can do something. Suggestions?

My father passed away when I was 14 that was 12 years ago. Every year on may 29th I do anything special go out to eat go fishing or boating I do something we did together when he was alive. My father would want me to celebrate his life not his death. I miss him very much and doing these things helps me feel closer to my deceased father. I'll talk about him tell stories good and bad and my husband who never met him just sits there and listens to me go over stories he's heard a million times my son tells me he feel like he knows my father by just how much I talk about him. I'm sorry for your loss. I can't imagine the pain your family must feel. Sending love your families way.

Sorry for the loss. We lost our girl at 2 hours old her twin brother 11 weeks old then a boy at 23.5 weeks old. We always celebrate their anniversaries, christmas and easter. We light a candle at meal time. We make a birthday cake. We sing happy heaven birthday. We send balloons with notes on. Each person is different whilst some wish to celebrate others do not so i would ask your partner first if he wishes to do something. The last thing you want to do is plan something and upset him if he didn't wish to celebrate. I personally feel celebrating helps keep the memories alive and it helps me through my challenging days
