After Birth ?

after you give birth will the nurses immediately let visitors in? it will just be me and my boyfriend in the delivery room and my parents & probably his family waiting in the waiting room 🙄 i don’t want anyone in the room for at least a few hours so my boyfriend and i can spend time with our baby alone before people start to wanna pile in. Do you have to ask your nurses to not let anyone in until you say? or will they just keep people from coming in without having to ask..?

I know my hospital won't allow any visitors for at least an hour after because they call that the golden hour where mom dad and baby get to first bond. After that they will allow visitors but only if I say its okay.

Just let them know my hospital has like a two hour wait but my husband after a bit is going to go get our daughter for bonding time and to introduce her to her brother after some time we have with just him. She’s 17 months so we want that special time as three and as a family without the whole gang being around.

They won’t do anything you do not want. Just my husband was in the room with me my parents and siblings were in the waiting room she asked me when I wanted them to come in I asked for at least an hour of just us with our new son, I would have wanted longer however my family had been there for a very long time and by the time I had him and they stitched me up it was darn near 230-3am. Just let the nurse know what you want and they respect it and enforce it.

Every hospital has a different standard procedure. Just tell them what you want to they are aware.

Tell them you don't want anyone in for the first few hours and they will see that it happens. My doctor told me skin to skin contact in the first 1-2 hours is important and will help increase the chances of breastfeeding so we won't have anyone in until that is done and baby latches for the first time.

It’s totally up to you. The hospital staff will respect your wishes.
My baby was born at 5:05 pm and we didn’t even get to our recovery room until 8 or 9. We had the golden hour with our baby and then they got me dinner and I had an epidural so I couldn’t go to recovery until after I was able to use the bathroom. 
At that point, we were exhausted and even if it had been the middle of the day, I don’t think I would have had the energy for visitors. My family lives nearby but they didn’t come until the next day. They understood that the first few days were about our new family of 3 :)

My partner and I told our family that we wanted an hour each for skin to skin. I also labored at home for as long as possible so no one had the chance to be there waiting.
