Is it okay for great-grandma to kiss newborn? Should we express our wishes more explicitly, again? (She has been told not to several times but today told us “that’s unheard of”)

We have told my husbands grandmother several times we do not want her kissing our babies (21 months & 2 months), especially when they are newborns. This is not something new, we had the same rules for our first son. She told my husband today that “that’s of unheard of” and genuinely acted as if we were crazy for having such a rule. Also, should I be upset that she’s having this convo with only my husband? Lastly, should I say something to her?

Personally, I would either have your husband or tell her yourself that if it’s that “bizarre” to her and she repetitively ignores your wishes, she won’t be welcomed anymore 🤷🏼‍♀️

She is likely having that conversation with him as he is her grandson and she has a much longer relationship with him. I wouldn’t take it personally, but I would encourage you to tell her why you feel that way. Things were done differently then than now so she may not understand the reason for the request. 
I do have a question for you though... I am assuming you don’t want them kissed because of germs? Is there a reason that she could not kiss the top of their heads? We told family only top of the head (or bottom of the feet for newborn) kisses their first year.

You asked 2 questions. But to the first, no it’s not okay for anyone to go against what you’ve asked when it comes to your child. And to the second, yes you should absolutely tell her again! And be more stern if you need to be! Sucks that it has to come down to this 😐😐

Even if it was something ridiculous (which it's not), that is completely up to YOU as parents. Whether she likes it or not, she needs to respect it. Otherwise I wouldn't let her around my kids.

I am going through the same situation! You know what I did after the 20th time my SOs grandma wouldn't listen to what I said? Stopped letting her be around my daughter. It's sad, but I'm done being disrespected. Good thing is my SO has my back.

Thank you everyone! I told her again today no kisses for either baby and if she cannot respect our wishes than she will no longer be welcome to see the boys. We will see at the next family function how well she listened, graduation is coming up...
