Membrane sweeping!?

Question

Has anyone Had this done to them? Does it hurt? Did you go into Labor shortly after? Can you Request to your doctor to not have it done? I was told that it helps you go into labor . Im currently 39w and 2 days I go to my doctor Thursday. I just want to know what to Expect.

Had one done Tuesday the 4th at 38 and 1. Woke up on the 5th losing my bloody show all day and got admitted at 12 am the 6th had her at 4:09am. I was already 4cm and fully effaced when I had the sweep and baby was engaged at a station 1 with my waters bulging. It will only work if your body and baby are ready.

I had one on Saturday last week at 40+1 I found it on the verge of painful but not quite - I think it depends where your cervix is. It only lasts 30 seconds and I breathed through it. 
Cramping immediately after but no signs of labour or mucus plus yet and I’m now 40+4 😫

First sweep (40+2) - mucus plug came out.
Second sweep (40+6) - bloody show. Cramps straight away. Labour started about 12 hours later.
Very uncomfortable. Works better the further along you are apparently.

I had mine done yesterday. Was very painful for me but maybe I’m just very sensitive. I’ve had mild cramping ever since. Bloody show this morning but no big contractions yet. Just cramping like period pains. Hoping something does happen in the next 24 hours!

I had one at 39+2. It didn’t hurt at all. Feels like someone is just super in your vagina 😂 it’s uncomfortable but fast and over with. It didn’t do anything and I’ll have another one at my appointment tomorrow at 40+2 and I’m hoping it does the trick!

I had one with my first and it worked. It honestly didn’t hurt but afterward I had super bad cramps that turned into contractions. getting one Thursday with this baby and hoping it works.

Had mine today. Its uncomfortable, a little painful but just think that it's all for something good! Midwife said I may bleed after but as of yet nothing, just a little tender down there!

Got it today at 39+5. Hurt a ton. I was only 1cm and my cervix is long and thick. I’ve been cramping for the past 7 hours like period pain but nothing major. I’m hoping it picks up soon!

It will only put you into labor of your body is ready to go onto labor. I had it done last week and nothing happened, having another one today. My doctor said it helps prevent you from having to be induced in the future. It was uncomfortable, but only takes about 30 seconds. I found it uncomfortable just because my cervix was really far back, but it was still tolerable. Good luck!
