Tattoo and giving blood

I got a tattoo in April. Can I still give blood ? I live in Louisiana by the way in case that matters

They say to wait one year after a tattoo to give blood. I think it has to do with the risk of infections or something 🤷🏼‍♀️

I don’t know about the states, but generally it’s 6 months after you get a tattoo or piercing.
