Is it a baby kiss?

For about a week now, baby has been doing this thing where he looks earnestly at his target, opens his mouth and then slowly leans in until he’s, well, eating a part of our faces. He only does it to me or his dad, not the nanny. 
Is it baby kisses? Or is he just trying to teethe on our faces?!

I think it’s a baby kiss. My son just started doing this; I absolutely love it even though he always grabs me by my baby hairs to smother my face with his.
