I'm 16 and I've realised in the past few months like my cycles have been coming at longer and longer distances like they come a week/week 1/2 after they're supposed to but I'll start getting cramps when I originally thought they should have started.

Answer

I think cuz you're young, your body is still figuring out it's cycles.  I know when I was a teen my cycles were all over the place.  The cramps are pms, as in "pre" menstrual syndrome, which can be different for everyone.  Some women have cramps for a week or at least 2-3 days before their period starts and some only get cramps the day their period starts.  We're just all very different!  Some women also can feel cramps when they ovulate, not just when they get their period, so it could be that too depending on how early you feel them and how long it lasts for.  And if you're ever concerned then speak to your doctor or a close female adult you would feel comfortable talking to.
