Any girls ever use the sponge?

I’m looking at birth control methods and I really,really do not want to go on hormonal birth control because of all of the side effects (specifically weight gain). I don’t have the money for a non-hormonal IUD so the last resort is the sponge. Have any of you guys ever used? Any pros or cons with it? I’ve never been pregnant before and it says that its more effective if you’ve never been so 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’m kinda scared that is going to get lost in there because I’m tight as hell 😂 I have also seen cases where it can cause Toxic Shock Syndrome ... which makes my hypochondriac mind run wild but yeah any advice
