Diaper genie worth it?

I find out when I’m being induced tomorrow and the only thing we didn’t get off our baby registry that I thought we really needed was a diaper genie. Anyone who isn’t a first time mom would you say this is a must have or something I could go without?

we did the diaper genie first time round and it worked well enough, but you have to buy specific bags and if it gets out of whack fixing it can be a pain. We did ubbi with our second and loved it! We used our kitchen bags since you can use your own bags. Cuts costs and frustrations! To be honest though, whatever you choose will work out grear

We LOVE our diaper genie used it with my first 2 and got another one with my 3rd. You can buy the Target brand bags for the genie and they don't cost as much. I would highly recommend it.

They have a different diaper bag (I don’t remember what it is called ! ) that works with regular trash bags. Google that one - I think they’re around the same cost

Grocery bags are free and easier. The diaper genie is a pain to empty. We just used a small trash can with a lid for pee diapers and grocery bags for poop diapers and emptied it into the outside trash can every day or two. Never had an issue with smell and didn’t have buy the expensive refills.

I found as my first got bigger and she ate solid foods, her poop got a lot stinkier. So at that point it was worth it.

Ours was handed down to us from a cousin. We lived in an apartment so it was worth it to not take diapers out every couple hours due to smell. Now that we are in a house, I’m not sure how much we will use it.

I got the munchkin brand that has stainless steel insides so it doesn’t absorb smell and you can replace the scent thing in it and the bags are scented to help. We love it so far. It was 40$ on sale
