After your divorce, did you change your name back?

I’m getting a divorce 😞😢 Debating on if I should change my name back? My mom never changed hers after divorcing my dad 17 years ago. I figured I’d see what others think. We were married for 4 years, I’m 21. So my entire adult life has been under his name.

If I didn’t have kids or any serious accomplishments under his name I would change it back.

I married at 20, divorced at 26, no kids. He was my first boyfriend, we had started dating when I was 16. I did return to my maiden name. He was emotionally abusive, the effects of which I didnt realize until I began a new relationship last year. I wont ever get back those 10 years of my life but I do get MYSELF back, and now I know the difference in a good man and an abusive one.

My boyfriends ex-wife still hasn’t changed her name back, and she’s the one that wanted the divorce!! Doesn’t make sense to me.

I never changed mine but I was already pregnant by my boyfriend (current husband) at the time and knew we would eventually get married, so I just waited it out. I am not the fondest of my maiden name but honestly wish I'd never changed it the first time.

It was free to change it back to my maiden name. I was only married 9 months though. My friends mom was married to her dad for 20+ years divorced and kept his name, remarried and changed it and divorced again.. she kept her recent ex last name because she hasn’t gone by her maiden name in decades and thought it would be weird to change back to her ex husbands

When my aunt was first divorced, she didn’t change it. Her kids were in high school and they’d been married quite a while. After her second divorce (decades later and a shorter marriage with no kids), she changed her name back to her maiden name.

I have decided to keep his last name now we have split because my son has his name and so will my baby due in August and I want to have the same name as them!
