How does the blood test work for gender reveal at 7 weeks?

I was reading the ways to find out my babies gender and none of them said anything about a blood test, or said they could test the amniotic sac through your vagina, through a needle in your stomach and through ultrasound but I just saw posts about blood tests? 
I looked it up, but my stupid question is it is just a normal blood test?

None of them can do it at 7 weeks. 
Some claim to do it at 9, but most doctors prefer you do it between 10-12 weeks to ensure you have enough fetal dna.

It’s not just a normal blood test. It’s a test that checks for down syndrome and other chromosome abnormalities including sex chromosome abnormalities. Because of that it will tell you the gender. But a lot of insurances won’t cover it. Unless you’re over 35. They usually do it at 11 weeks and it takes a week or two to get back.

I had one at 9 weeks and two at 10 weeks. It’s a normal blood test and my insurance covered it because I was over 35. You usually have to pay if there’s not a reason for you to get it.
