How do I say I love you?

So I’ve been with my boyfriend like 3 months now (and friends before that) and I really want to say I love you but I keep chickening out! My ex told me how much he loved me and then dumped me a day later and so now I’m terrified of being told my new boyfriend loves me but doesn’t mean it! I’m also really overthinking about needing to make it romantic. How do I tell him?

Just do it. He isn’t your ex, he might be waiting for you to say it first

There’s generally a time when it feels right, and it’ll just kind of come out. Like if you guys are cuddling, or when you’re saying goodbye. Don’t say it for the sake of getting it over and done with, but do it when it feels right. He may be holding back and waiting for you.

If it's hard to actually say it out loud, maybe you can write it on a card or on a cake or with candles, etc. I'm sure he'll like it no matter how you tell him and it might be fun and romantic to find a creative way!

My boyfriend was the first to say it to me and I panicked and didn’t really give him an “I love you, too” back until a week or so later. 😬
There’s never a good perfect moment to say it. You just have to let them know when you feel ready.
