My best friend since 7th grade and I live 11 hours away from each other. We're pretty close and really miss each other so keep it touch over the phone, Facebook and Skype quite often. The only problem is she wants to be in touch daily often more than once but I can't keep up because I have a job and I'm still living at home with family that I like spending time with and I'd prefer us to talk less often but have great conversations as opposed to talking on the daily about boring stuff. She works too but lives with a housemate she doesn't really like and has friends but not very close ones locally so I get it that she likes being it touch. I love her but it's reached the point I ignore her texts and calls just to get some peace and talk less often but I feel horrible for doing it. I just don't have the time or energy to be on the phone for an hour or so talking about nothing every day but I know she'd be offended if I asked to talk maybe once a week which would work better for me and I don't want this to ruin our friendship.

I don't know if it's me or her that's 'odd' with this though... If your best friend lives far away, how often are you in contact?
