What to pack

Question

We’re being induced tomorrow! This is our first baby, and the doctor said to expect it to take up to 48 hours for the birth and then to be there an additional two days. What all did y’all pack? 4 days in the hospital seems like a lot, but I don’t want to pack my entire house 😂

Some clothes to leave in, chapstick, phone charger, cash for vending machine, pjs for Dad, clothes for baby to leave in, toothbrush. Everything else is provided

Like everyone said you don’t need much. It’s actually better to have room in your bag to bring hospital supplies back with you. They give you so much. 
Bring two going home baby outfits (newborn and 0-3) just in case you have a big baby. Thankfully we did that!! I couldn’t even fit the baby into a newborn onesie at 3 days old. He never wore a single piece of newborn clothes 
Bring your own toiletries cause it just feels nicer in my opinion to use my own toothpaste, shampoo etc
A tip that I was given for my induction that I always pass along. If you get the induction starting at night with the cervadil (cervix softener that stays in like 12 hrs), Send your husband/partner home to sleep (if your house isn’t too far from the hospital).  You can always call and get them back ASAP, but Sleeping in hospitals suck and it’s worse for the husbands in those crappy chairs. You both want to get as much sleep as you can since it’s a long process and at the beginning not much is happening anyway. I had mine come back before the first round of doctor checks in the morning around 7/8am I think and then of course stayed from then on as we got going into labor. He was a much better partner during the birth since he got some sleep that night. And honestly missed nothing other than me waddling to the bathroom ever hour or so with a nurse to pee.

I probably overpacked but literally cant help it. I have a small roller w 3 boxers, shirts, socks and couple shorts for my husband, 3 high waisted underwear for me, a thin robe, flipflops, dress to go home and two pairs of loose comfy pjs. Also a hoodie in case its cold.. then an outfit for baby to go home in, a belly band, two toothbrushes, deodorant for us both, brush, toothpaste, extra chapstick, phone chargers, small shamp.cond.body wash, small loofah, tiny makeup bag, and cheezits. Haha.  Having a c section and couldnt fit it all into one roller. Oh well 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

Hospital will provide diapers for baby. Just take basic toiletries for you and spouse. A few comfy outfits for both of you. Carseat for baby. Sleepers for baby unless you want to use hospital provided stuff. A baby blanket like a swaddle one. Chargers for any electronic items. Chapstick for you. I tried induction but it failed so i had a csection with 1st one. We were there 6 days total and i didnt use half of what i packed. You really dont need much.
