I was just told on Friday that I have PCOS. It has not entered my blood yet so the form of treatment my doctor recommended was to go back on the pill. I just got off the pill last August after being on it for 11 years. Not the news I wasted to hear but if I have to do it I will. I was wondering if any of you ladies have gone back on the pill or have done any other forms of treatment, home long it took, and what it was. TYIA!!

I was diagnosed with PCOS over three years ago. We found out after 6 months of zero cycles. My doctor never mentioned getting back on the pill. I went straight to clomid. Did three cycles, conceive on the last one. After my daughter turned one, we did clomid again took six cycles and I’m now 9 weeks pregnant. I only ever saw obs and gyns for my pcos also not sure what options the specialist would give.

Is your ob/gyn the one recommending you go back on the pill?  My ob/gyn diagnosed me with pcos and told me straight up that my treatment plan would be to go on the pill and then stop it, see if I ovulated and if not try 3 rounds of clomid (and then repeat the cycle). She admitted that they basically do that for everyone with pcos and if I wanted more individualized treatment she would immediately refer me to a reproductive endocrinologist who would do more testing and determine the best treatment for me.  I am impatient and didn’t want to keep trying for months under a doctor who didn’t know how to treat the condition so I took the referral.  Turns out in addition to pcos my hubs has some slight sperm issues and the pcos causes my uterine lining never to get thick enough to actually hold a pregnancy.  We did ivf and I am currently breast feeding my almost 4 week old daughter.  The point of my story is that if you aren’t comfortable with the treatment plan there are many options out there, and I would consider seeing a specialist since they know so much more.  I hope for you it’s an easy fix,  without seeing the specialist I would have had months of wasted time and heartbreak. Good luck!
