copper iud help?

I have to decide on a birth control soon and i’ve been leaning towards the copper iud. I’m considering it because i don’t want to gain any weight, and i want to heal normally after having my baby and not have any of those hormones messing with everything. Can i have someone’s opinion/experiences? Thanks!

I have the Paraguard (copper IUD). Initially my periods were slightly more crampy but that stopped. Now they are the same length they were when I first got my period. The first year my periods were extremely heavy, but have since eased up. I’m going on my 3rd year with it. I still have some heavy flow days but only 2. I used a menstrual cup now too which takes some of the stress away with having a heavy flow and leaks.

The iud is a very effective method of birth control (so good choice), make sure you research your options as there is lots of different types but I’m sure your doctor will help with this xx

all i know is that the copper iud makes your periods REALLY heavy, and gets more cramps, my sister is on it. i’m on the mirena and i love it. i would look into your options and make sure you know what you want before choosing one!
