Just want my mind at ease..

Last night around 11 I went to the bathroom, i wiped and saw bright red spotting like my period was getting ready to start along with cramps. Went to the hospital and they monitored me for about 1-2 hrs, baby boy is doing fine but I still didn’t understand why I was spotting red blood, the midwife said it could be because he’s pushing against my cervix. She checked my cervix I’m not dilated at all , my cervix is still high. So fast forward to today I have brownish spotting on and off and mild cramping on and off sometimes it’s hurts more than usual. Is any of this normal or have you had a similar experience at 37+6?
