Hi everyone so I have no idea where to post this or where to find an answer! My friend is started college classes at the end of July through early August. She also has college classes from the end of August through December with no official break besides Thanksgiving break. She was just summoned to jury duty and the dates fall on her summer and fall semester classes. All of these classes are solely in person and she has class 5 days a week. We know that it can be postponed for 3months, but by then she will be getting ready for midterms and such for her classes and while she will be considered excused for her classes, she will still end up missing out on actually learning the material.

We live in VA and we’re wondering if anyone else has experienced this and what they’ve done? Can you be excused from jury duty for something like this? She’s not a high school student and is over 18. She will not be going on any trips outside of the state during that time either. We’re just wondering if her being in classes all day 5 days a week would be an excuse to get out of it?
